Diggers Inn grew out of Kabwe itself — a town built on lead, zinc, and the stubborn warmth of the people who call it home. The restaurant takes its name from the mining heritage that shaped the town, and the Shafts Pub is a nod to the long tunnels and lift-shafts that still define the landscape.
Today Diggers Inn is a meeting place: a place for early breakfasts before the shift, late-night beers after the match, family Sunday lunches, first dates, and the kind of birthday dinners you'll still be talking about next year.
We serve hearty Zambian and South African classics, generous grills, fresh pizzas, and a bar that takes its cocktails seriously. The vibe is industrial luxury — dark wood, golden light, and the kind of welcome you only get in the heart of the Copperbelt.
Kabwe has been a mining town since the early 1900s — lead, zinc and a deep seam of community. Our walls carry that history.
"Diggers" honours the men and women who worked the seams. "Shafts" is the bar — long, dark, social. Together: a place to dig in and unwind.

A small pub opens on Lobelia Street, named in tribute to Kabwe's mining heritage. Locals come for the cold beer and the braai.

The pub is reimagined as a proper cocktail and craft-beer destination, with the big screen and the live sport calendar Kabwe had been waiting for.
